YFMs Caroline And NYDJ To Represent At The Mama

Ghana’s number one urban youth radio station, YFM, is yet again shining an international spotlight on entertainment in Ghana, as it is set to represent Ghana and report live from the MTV Africa Music Awards 2015 (MAMA), in South Africa. This year’s MAMA is scheduled to come offon Saturday 18 July, 2015 at the Durban International Convention Centre (ICC), KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.

The Awards is a platform that rewards and recognises talented musicians, achievers and personalities who have made the most impact across the African continent.

The station, represented by the host of Y Lounge, Caroline Simpson and NYDJ from YFM Kumasi, will be giving live updates on events happening the main MAMA ceremony as well as other activities related to it.

In its usual generous fashion, YFM is not leaving its listeners out of this big event, as one lucky listener has been selected in a competition, to accompany the YFM presenters to the Awards, courtesy South African Tourism.

In a comment, Naomi Nelson, Head of Corporate Communications for Director for GMA, the mother company of YFM, said, ‘YFM as an entertainment power house does not want its listeners to miss out on the MAMA awards. This is why we are sending our presenters to cover the event and keep our listeners updated on the happenings on the ground.’’

She continued that YFM is glad to be at the ceremony since some Ghanaian artistes have also been nominated for some categories. “To all the Ghanaian artist who have been nominated, we say a big kudos. We will continue to support them all and do our part to ensure that music of Ghanaian origin is always represented in the world music industry” Ms. Nelson concluded.

The theme for this year’s MAMA Awards is “evolution,” as it seeks to reward musicians and achievers who have mostly impacted on African youth culture over the last 12 months, while also celebrating the development of the continent’s talent and creativity over the last 10 years. The ceremony will feature stunning performances from African and international artists along with unique collaborations.
