Welder Robs Judge

Peter Sam Atanga
A 27-YEAR-OLD welder who is alleged to have robbed Seyram Tsatsu Yao Azumah, a judge at the Akropong court, has been apprehended by the Tema police.

Peter Sam Atanga was arrested at Dawhenya on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, in connection with narcotic drug when he was identified as one of suspected criminals who carried out the robbery attack at the judge’s residence at Dawhenya in the Ningo-Prampram District of the Greater Accra Region about four months ago.

The suspect and his accomplices, said to be numbering four, purportedly robbed the judge of a Samsung tablet, two Nokia mobile phones, one HTC mobile phone, a laptop computer, four wrist watches and an amount of GH¢7,000.00 and bolted, leaving behind one locally manufactured pistol.

Mr. Azumah had reportedly experienced three separate robbery incidents at his house. The first incident occurred at Afienya before he relocated to Dawhenya where he was robbed twice at gun point.

Police investigations revealed that on Friday, June 5, 2015, at about 1:05 pm, the suspect, accompanied by three others who are currently at large, scaled the fence wall of the former Ashaiman circuit court judge’s house and robbed him of the above-stated items.

On Wednesday, September 2, 2015, the Prampram District police arrested Peter Sam for allegedly possessing narcotic drug after a swoop had been conducted in the area. Justice Azumah, who identified Sam at the time of the attack on him, alerted the regional command about the arrest of the suspect by the Prampram police.

Sam Atanga was immediately transferred to the Tema Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for further investigations. After thorough investigations he was charged with conspiracy to commit crime and would be made to appear before court.
