‘Tweaa’ DCE Welcomed

Gabriel Barimma
The ugly public incident which led to the temporary sacking of Gabriel Barimma, District Chief Executive (DCE) of Ahafo-Ano South, seems to have brought him a good omen.

The popularity of the hitherto, virtually, unknown DCE, keeps soaring in Kumasi and other parts of the Ashanti Region as the days go by, since the infamous ‘tweaa’ incident happened.

This became manifest at the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) in Kumasi on Thursday when the reinstated DCE visited the place when the Ashanti Regional Minister, Samuel Sarpong, was addressing the media about the National Sanitation Day exercise during a press conference.

Mr. Barimma, wearing all white – perhaps to signify victory regarding his reinstatement – entered the conference room whilst the minister was delivering his address.

Journalists who spotted Mr. Barimma, started whispering, ’tweaa,’ ‘tweaa’ to draw the attention of the people gathered to the DCE.

He quietly, tip-toed and made himself comfortable in one of the seats at the back of the conference room.

Within minutes, people that were present at the function were seen stretching their necks to catch a clearer view of the ‘Tweaa’ DCE.

Even Mr Barimma’s fellow DCEs at the programme tried to see him, disrupting the event, temporarily.

After the programme, the DCEs were seen moving to where the ‘Tweaa’ DCE was seated to shake hands and also welcome him back to office.

Mr. Barimma was given the marching off order from office by President Mahama for misconduct some months ago, only to be reinstated last week
