Tv3 Network, the most authoritative news station’s “THE PLATFORM” will be discussing the deadly Ebola virus and its devastating effect on livelihoods in the sub region.

The Ebola virus has killed more than 5,000 people, according to the latest statistics released by the World Health Organization, with 14,098 reported cases of Ebola mostly in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone.

Inspite of assurances from the Ministry of health that Ghana is ready to fight Ebola in view of the case management, logistics, security and financial resources, put in place by the Inter-Ministerial team comprising the Ministries of Health, Communications, Defence, Interior and Local Government and Rural Development, many including health workers have expressed concern on whether these measures are enough to manage any suspected case of Ebola.

The main objective of this roundtable discussion is to tease out these critical issues, reassess the country’s preparedness, the economic implications and stigmatization.

Speakers will be the Dr. Magda Robalo of WHO, UNMEER, Dr. Victor Bampoe- Deputy Ministry of Health, Dr. Opoku Adusei- President of GMA, Dr. Badu Sarkodie of Ghana Health Service, and Dr. Nii-Noi Ashong, an Economist, with a pool of participants from the various pharmaceutical, research, medical and governmental agencies and departments.

The Chief of the Esikado traditional area, Nana Kobina, Nketsia V, will chair the discussion.

The programme will be live on TV3 on Thursday November 20, 2014 at 10am.
