Tarzan Tells Tsikata And Gabby: Drop The ‘All-knowing’ Attitude

“As human, we have limitations. Our imperfection explains the fact that one cannot have expertise in medicine, law, banking, security, energy etc. at the same time” – Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobbey.

Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobbey has advised that “everyone must have the modesty to know the limits of their imagination and their intelligence”.

“We need to come to terms with the fact that we have a limit to our intellect, which therefore makes others more intelligent than us,” he said on Adom FM.

Dr. Wereko-Brobbey popularly known as Tarzan made this submission in reaction to a request by the Ghana Institute for Public Policy Options to refer two Lawyers to the General Legal Council for remarks on the just ended election petition trial, deemed contemptuous.

Tarzan, who is the Chief Policy Analyst of the Institute, further explained the actions of the think tank by expressing disgust at the recent utterances of Lawyer Tsatsu Tsikata and Lawyer Gabby Asare-Otchere Darko and the subsequent intransigence they have exhibited after a public outrage.

Tsatsu Tsikata, the lead Counsel for the third Respondent in the election petition case accused one of the nine-panel Judges, Justice Anin-Yeboah, of allowing his political affiliation to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and his allegiance to former President John Agyekum Kufour cloud his judgment.

In his case, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko also christened the election petition verdict as a “corrupt verdict”.

However, both lawyers have stated their unyieldingness to retract and apologies for the comments many believe to be unsavory and therefore stand by it.

But Tarzan opined that in spite of the fact that he is not a lawyer, he knows that one can only disagree with a court ruling after a case but not attack the court the way both lawyers did, let alone the apex court of the land.

He further called on them to drop the ‘all-knowing’ attitude and be humble enough to acknowledge that the interpretation of the constitution can only be done by the Supreme Court because they have the expertise to do so.
