Tamale Car Snatchers Remanded

Three persons- Abdul Sallam, Adam Sagri and Dana Steven Nindo in Tamale- who were arrested by police at Gushie for allegedly snatching a Punto ELX taxi with registration number NR 273-14 from the driver at knife-point, have been arraigned before the Tamale Circuit Court, presided over by Justice Twumasi Appiah.

The accused persons Abdul Sallam, 35, unemployed, Adam Sagri, 44, taxi driver and Dana Steven Nindo pleaded not guilty.

They have been remanded into prison custody to reappear in court on 27th October, 2015.

Eric Asui, a taxi driver, said that at about 4pm when he was going on his normal business, Abdul Sallam and Dana Steven Nindo hired his services to drive them from the GOIL fueling station to Kanvilli, a suburb of Tamale metropolis.

The complainant said they agreed on an undisclosed fee and when they got close to their destination Abdul Sallam, who directed him to slow down, pulled out a knife and stabbed him from behind.

He said he pushed him out of the car and sped off with Dana Steven Nindo towards the Bolgatanga road.

Dana Steven Nindo contracted Adam Sagri to drive the vehicle to Navrongo in the Upper East region at an undisclosed amount.

When the complainant reported the case, police sent wireless messages to personnel at all barriers along the Bolgatanga road.

When they got to the Savelugu Barrier, a police personnel stationed recognized the car and alerted those at the next barrier at Gushie in the Savelugu Nanton District.

They were finally arrested at the Gushie Police Barrier.

Abdul Sallam has been charged with robbery while Adam Sagri and Dana Steven Nindo have been charged with abetment.
