Suspected ‘gay’ doctor remanded again; pleads not guilty

The senior medical doctor at Effia Nkwanta Regional hospital accused of sodomising a 16-year-old SHS student has pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Dr Sulley Ali-Gabass, has consequently been remanded in police custody to reappear on November 25, 2014.

He is facing two counts of defilement and having an unnatural carnal knowledge contrary to sections of the Criminal Code.

After months of investigation, Joy News Manasseh Azure-Awuni broke the horrifying story of the 16-year-old who accused Dr Ali Gabass of sodomising him.

The pair met on facebook and established what was originally meant to be a mentor-mentee relationship but things turned on their head with the relationship allegedly becoming a sexual one.

The victim, whose name has been withheld, suffered serious anal injuries and had to be operated upon to save his life.

He is also said to have contracted the HIV, and is accusing Dr Ali-Gabass of infecting him with the virus.

In a chat with Manasseh, the medical doctor was heard admitting to knowing the victim and having sex with him but vehemently denied infecting him with the virus.

He stated emphatically that he was HIV negative and could not be responsible for the boy’s infection.

The suspect was arrested on October 22, 2014, dragged to court on October 24, 2014 but the court agreed to keep him on remand until November 7, 2014.

After an in-camera hearing, Friday, the court again kept the suspect on remand.

Lawyer for the suspect, Nii Kwei Amasa, told Joy News the case was heard in-camera because the suspect is believed to be a minor.
