Spyder Lee Entertainment has announced GN Bank Awards as the new name for the debut of the much publicised awards scheme to celebrate and award individuals within the Arts and Entertainment Industry, a statement from the company on Tuesday stated.

The company has already unveiled a new logo for the new name and has assured stakeholders it would come off on March 21 at the Accra International Conference Centre as originally scheduled.

The statement explained that the change of name became necessary after an Accra Fast Track High Court restrained both Spyder Lee Entertainment and Evolution International from using either ‘People’s Choice Awards’ or ‘Peoples Choice Awards’ until the final determination of the case by the court.

The two companies were in court contending over the ownership of the name.

‘Spyder Lee Entertainment wishes to inform all nominees and members of the general public that the company is preparing towards the awards night scheduled for Saturday 21st March 2015 at the Accra International Conference Centre.

‘Spyder Lee Entertainment will soon contact all nominees and members of the media with information about their tickets and accreditation to the awards night as well as all processes leading to the awards night’, the statement noted.

Spyder Lee, organizers of the event, have successfully generated a national attention and interest with the public campaigning and voting for some 150 celebrities and public personalities nominated and spread across ten categories for the award.

The name change would mean the company would have to spend additional funds to rebrand the awards.

Already there are hundreds of giant sized bill boards all over the country baring the old name, ‘GN Bank People’s Choice Awards’ and it would cost a fortune replacing them with the new name with just some 16 days left to the main event.
