Shatta Wale yet to be informed of disqualification Management

Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has not been informed officially that he has been disqualified from the 2016 edition of the Ghana Music Awards, his spokesperson has said.

According to Chris Koney, Charter House, organisers of the awards, is yet to inform the artiste and his management of the decision.

The Board of the Awards announced at a press conference Tuesday at the World Trade Centre in Accra that Shatta Wale, born Charles Nii Armah Jnr, will not be nominated for the Awards this year.

According to Theresa Ayoade, CEO of Charter House, Shatta Wale doesn’t qualify for this year’s awards unless he completes the process of officially apologising for maligning the VGMA Board.

The dancehall artiste has released a song and issued a statement on Facebook faulting unnamed persons for demanding an apology from him when they are equally to blame for his personality.

He said: “WHY SHOULD I ALWAYS I APOLOGIZE FOR THE MONSTER YOU HAVE MADE ME BECOME WHEN NO ONE HAS EVER APOLOGIZED FOR MAKING ME THIS WAY.IF YOU PUT ME IN A CAGE LIKE AN ANIMAL AND FEED ME WITH FRESH BLOODY MEAT FOR YEARS,IMAGINE WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF I BREAK THE CAGE AND COME OUT,I WILL BE FORCED TO LIVE THE BLOODY WAY YOU TRAINED ME”.

In spite of the song and the Facebook post, Chris Koney commenting on the issue in an interview on News Night on Joy FM says they are yet to be informed of the disqualification.

He noted that when Shatta Wale’s camp receives an official communication from Charter House, they will know the way forward.

Chris added that they will subsequently release an official statement on the issue at the appropriate time.
