Sekou Nkrumah is worried that the sister has declared her presidential ambition to contest on the ticket of the Conventions Peoples Party.

Samia Nkrumah declared for the first time publicly that she is ready to run for President on the ticket of her father’s party.

The former Jomoro MP said she was willing to do everything she could to resuscitate her father’s party and so will not run away from the responsibility of leading the CPP into elections when the right time comes.

Samia who was voted as the Chairperson of the CPP led the party to perform woefully in the 2012 elections is eyeing the presidency.

The brother, Sekou was of the view that the sister cannot change the despairs of the CPP.

He told Pravda radio that he was compelled to leave his father’s traditional CPP because the party had outlived its usefulness and was therefore no longer relevant to the challenges of the times.

Stressing that politics was all about showing love and compassion to the people, he observed the CPP of yesteryears was not the same today, and that, even though they might look alike, the CPP had virtually metamorphosed into the NDC.

“I think it is clear that the new CPP is today’s NDC. When you have two things that are the same, one of them is definitely useless. And in this case, the useless one is surely not the NDC,” he inferred.

The CPP had continued to fall consistently in almost every election, leaving the political terrain to be dominated by the NDC and the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), stressing that he was appalled by the recalcitrance of the various splinter Nkrumaist groups in presenting a common platform during elections.

He said the party should not be built around only the children of Nkurmah adding that the party needs to focus in building a vibrant front.

According to him, a new revolutionary thinking had, since June 4, 1979, been introduced into the national political psyche, and noted that the new injection had taken over the place of the CPP.

“June 4 brought a call for social justice to re-invigorate Nkrumah’s vision, which was truncated by the 1966 coup,” he said.

He indicated that the CPP cannot be a third force in Ghana’s politics.

Samia declared openly that she is interested in contesting the presidency on the ticket of the CPP.

“I’ve been interested in becoming an MP for the CPP; I’ve been interested in becoming a Chairperson for the CPP, I’ll do anything to secure more votes for the CPP. Why not? What is stopping us?”, she noted.
