School Children In Awoshie In Danger

School Children in Awoshie, a suburb within the Accra metropolis have to go through fear, panic and danger of their lives to arrive safely at their various schools as the major accessible footbridge leading to their campuses weakly suspends on Lafa River.

The bridge is the main footpath and car pass for the people in Ablekuma Central and North. This has lead to controversies as to which Member of Parliament duty it is to reconstruct the bridge.

In an interview with the headmaster of Saint Lutherodt Preparatory School, Mr. Henry Mensah said due to the bad state of the bridge 2 lives has been lost.

He added that teachers always have to come to the end of the bridge and help school children cross due to its danger state.

“If government and our MPs refuse to fix our bridge for us, they shouldn’t step foot here to campaign for votes in election time else it will be bloody”, Mr Henry warned.

Mr. Richard Kofi Ackerson, Principal of Christ Jesus Educational Centre disclosed that they have contacted their member of Parliament , Hon. Justice Joe Appiah but Joe Appiah has refuted that the area is not part of his constituency. ” I have also contacted Hon. Ayorkor Botwe and she also said our area is not part of her constituency”.

“It is useless and vain to vote when you call on your MPs for help and they all deny of representing the constituents”, he bemoaned.
