Sacked NLA Staff Fight Back

The four dismissed staff of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) have described as laughable a disclaimer issued by the company cautioning the public to avoid transacting any business with them.

They are Messrs Donald Djopo, Elvis Osei- Mensah, Pius Akelisiyine and Emmanuel Hatsu who ceased to be employees of the Authority with effect from May 6, 2014.

The NLA had on Tuesday issued a disclaimer insisting that the public should not transact any business with the individuals for and on behalf of NLA.

But the four in a counter statement issued yesterday cataloging series of events leading to their dismissal from the company stated that, it was ‘strange that for close to two years, management of NLA now find it prudent to issue a disclaimer if not for their treacherous act to keep destroying our lives.’

They argued: ‘We want to tell NLA that our silence does not represent our admission of guilt…..we know that we have started a project and while at home we gave it all the necessary support to finalise the land registration. We are professionally trained problem solvers but not witch hunters and criminal conspirators.’

While serving notice that shocking revelations were yet to come, the quartet said the general public should ignore the publication adding that ‘we wish to state clearly that we are taking the appropriate steps to ensure that what they [NLA] have done to us is reversed’.

The group explained that although they acknowledge their non-engagement with NLA since May last year, they categorically refused to accept their summary dismissal from NLA.

The statement dared the NLA to come out and explain to the public why they were dismissed in the same manner it had issued the disclaimer.

According to the aggrieved workers, the actions leading to their dismissal did not in ‘any way create employment losses at NLA nor bring the [name] of NLA into disrepute.’

It further stated, ‘we know that we have not stolen anything from NLA whilst in office which they know deep within themselves’.
