President Mahama To Address Delegates At 8th Pan African Congress

The President of Ghana, his Excellency President John Dramani Mahama will open the 8th Pan African Congress on Thursday, March 5, March 2015 at the Accra International Conference Centre at 9:00 a.m.

It is expected that participants and the general public will be seated by 8:30a.m.

The Local Organizing Committee and the Pan African Movement (PAM) in collaboration with the Government of the Republic of Ghana is hosting the 8th Pan African Congress in Accra from 4-7 March 2015. The theme of the Congress is: “The Pan African World We Want: Building a People’s Movement for a Just Accountable and Inclusive Structural Transformation of Africa”.

The agenda for the unity of Africans to fight for self-determination has evolved over nearly a century since the first Pan African Congress (PAC) was held in 1919 in Paris, France by African and other anti-colonial and progressive movements.

Participants and delegates from all over the world have started arriving in Accra to take part in the Congress poised to discuss and debate issues about Africa and Africans.

Information has it that President John Dramani Mahama will use his address at the Congress to urge Africans all over the world to take control of their destiny.

Special guest to the Congress shall include, the Chairman of African Union, Excellency President Robert Mugabe, Chairperson of African Union Commission, H.E. Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, Patron of the Pan African Movement, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President, Republic of Uganda.

Other dignitaries shall include the Chair of the Pan African Movement, Major General Kahinda Otafiire, Members of the Diplomatic Corps and Political Activists.

Following consultations with wide mass organisations, the Government of the Republic of Ghana, the African union (AU) and the Global Pan African Movement agreed to Ghana hosting the 8th Pan African Congress.

The African Union has already adopted the 8TH PAC as part of its activities marking the 50th anniversary.
