President Mahama insists he won’t overspend budget

Accra, Oct. 28, GNA – President John Dramani Mahama has restated his commitment to ensure that government maintains its fiscal discipline, and not succumb to any election year pressures to overspend.

A statement from the Office of the President’s Communication Bureau and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra said the President gave the assurance during an interaction with Ghanaian students studying in various institutions in India.

President Mahama is currently in India to participate in the India-Africa Summit Forum took the opportunity to interact with members of the Ghanaian community in New Delhi.

He said the International Monetary Fund is helping to stabilise the national economy.

He also spoke about his Agenda for Transformation, and how Ghana’s relations with India would help push the Agenda.

President Mahama said government is working with India to produce sugar, and also revamp the Western rail line.

He is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with the Indian Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, officials of the Indian EXIM Bank and the chief executive officers of a number of Indian businesses on Wednesday.
