President Mahama: Ghana was not for any individual or group of persons

Accra, Jan. 1, GNA – President John Dramani Mahama on Thursday stated that Ghana was not for any individual or group of persons, but for all Ghanaians who had a shared responsibility to ensure its growth and development.

He said: “Ghana is not for one person or one political party, Ghana is not for some selected group of people, Ghana is for all of us and all our future generations.”

President Mahama, who was presenting his New Year message in a nationwide broadcast, said although the year 2015 witnessed some growth and numerous accomplishments, it also witnessed some setbacks that government was working around the clock to solve for all Ghanaians.

The President said with the increase in terrorist attacks and other unrests that are troubling the world, there was the need for concerted efforts as Ghanaians to forge ahead and find ways of warding off such unacceptable incidents.

He called on Ghanaians not to surrender their perseverance to achieve nationalism saying negativities could retard the orderly progress of the country.

The President reaffirmed his government’s determination to listen and find solutions to the challenges that Ghanaians were facing in the country.

“I will continue to serve this country with the understanding that one of the hallmarks of our country is the continuous communication between government and people of the country.”

He gave the assurance that each and every member of his administration would continue to listen to the concerns of the people by working to find workable solutions to their demands and welfare.

“Each and every member of this government will uphold the promises made to you and to ensure that your interest is served.”

He said those who would fall short of that commitment would be asked to tender their resignation or be relieved of their responsibilities.

He urged all Ghanaians to begin the New Year with courage, optimism, faith and ability to succeed.
