The General Overseer of the Voice of Christ Mission of Ghana, Apostle Mark Asemani Appiah has called on his fellow Clergy to endeavour to use their platforms at least to preach against the declining sanitation situation in the country in order to avoid the rampant outbreak of diseases.

Adding that, cleanliness is next to godliness. In an interview with the man of God, he noted that the same people who are attending churches or mosques to seek for God’s intervention when they are stricken by ailments are the same people littering the country. He said God, the creator of the earth and the universe abhors filth. I “appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship [Romans 12:1]”

This he said all and sundry in the country have a moral duty to keep themselves and their homes in order to avoid all kinds of diseases relating to sanitation. According to him, government’s efforts alone will not be enough until the people change their attitude towards sanitation. “

In this regard, we the Clergy need to influence our members’ with the word of God. The Preaching should not be based on prosperity and wealth only” he admonished. The same wealth they will acquire is the same thing they will use to treat or cure themselves.

It is therefore imperative for them to develop positive characters towards personal hygiene and sanitation. According to him, Ghana as a country can say goodbye to cholera and other diseases which have engulfed the country if only Ghanaians could realize that indiscriminate dumping of refuse or littering is also a sin before God.
