On Saturday, some of the biggest names in African music brought the Independence Square in Accra to life when they took turns to entertain thousands of Ghanaians to good music.

The impressive list of acts who gave off memorable performances at the Mo Ibrahim Concert in Accra included Grammy Award-winning musician Angelique Kidjo and Grammy-nominated Youssour Ndour.

Apart from the two, other big names who performed at the free concert included rapper Sarkodie and dancehall artiste Stonebwoy.

The Mo Ibrahim Concert was part of the annual Governance Weekend by the Mo Ibrahim Foundation. It is held every year in mid-November in a different African country and Ghana is the host this year.

This three-day event convenes prominent African political and business leaders, institutions and major partners of Africa to debate issues of critical importance to the continent.

Apart from the concert at the Independence Square, other activities organised to mark the weekend included a Leadership Ceremony, forums, high-level discussions and a football match.
