Okuapehene Goes Home Photos

President John Dramani Mahama, the leader of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), have graced the final funeral rites of the late Paramount Chief of the Akuapem Traditional Area, Oseadeeyo Addo Dankwa III, as the chief goes home today.

Former President Jerry Rawlings and wife Nana Konadu  Agyemang-Rawlings, as well as the vice presidential candidate of the NPP, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and his spouse, also paid their last respects to the fallen chief on Thursday.

The NPP leadership is expected in Akropong today again to bid the late traditional ruler farewell. Paa Kwasi Amissiah Arthur, the vice president, will also show up at Akropong to pay his last respect to Oseadeeyo Addo Dankwa III today.

Other personalities, including parliamentarians in the persons of the deputy speaker; the majority leader, Alban Bagbin; minority leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, also graced the solemn occasion on Friday.

The funeral is jointly chaired by the Okyenhene, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin and his queen mother, Nana Ama Dokua, who welcomed traditional rulers across the country before they were able to file past the mortal remains of the late Okuapehene.

The funeral, which commenced last Monday, is expected to end on Monday.
