NPP MP Rubbishes Akufo-Addo-Alan Factions In NPP

Member of Parliament for Asuogyaman constituency in the Eastern Region Hon. Kofi Osei Ameyaw has rubbished the trend of Nana Addo and Alan Kyeremanten factions in the New Patriotic Party calling it, ‘absolute nonsense.’

He said the party needs to strengthen its grassroot since that is where the strength of every party lies instead of using the factions to disintegrate the party.

Hon. Osei Amweyaw made these comments when he spoke to journalists in Koforidua at the party’s Regional Delegates conference to elect new regional executives in the party.

He also said the party’s elections commenced from the polling stations and will climb up all the way to the national delegates conference where a flag-bearer will be chosen to lead the party in 2016 general elections.

He wondered why people have already set up camps even before the polling station elections were started since the two may not be the only people interested in the chairmanship position.

The MP stated clearly that until nominations are opened, it will be ridiculous for factions like Nana Addo – Alan Kyeremanten camps which will also have backing from party leaders.”Until nominations are opened for vetting to take place, nobody can be called a candidates because nobody even knows who will be alive tomorrow”, Hon. Ameyaw emphasized. When asked of his intention to contest the flagbearership position, he said Ghanians will know if the time comes but the Hon. MP said he just seeks God’s favour to live and see what tomorrow brings.

Hon. Osei Ameyaw, however, called on all party supporters to join in his UPSEM programme which will strengthen activities of polling stations in the party.

At the end of the congress, Mr Kingston Akumey Kissi was elected NPP’s new Eastern Regional chairman beating the incumbent Dr Samuel Yaw Annor.
