Hundreds of charged National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters made up of mostly the youth and elderly thronged the Greater Accra Regional Office of the ruling party to lend support to Nii Armah Ashietey as he submitted his forms to contest the parliamentary primary in the Klottey Korle Constituency.

The supporters say they can easily identify with Nii Armah Ashietey as he has been through the trenches with them and knows their issues.

One of the youth, Daniel Adoquaye said “Hon Nii Armah Ashietey rose through the ranks from a Branch Chairman through to becoming a Constituency Chairman, he has paid his dues and anyone who aspire to lead the constituency must respect the structures and follow suit”

Before filing, Mr. Ashietey who was clad in an all white attire led a procession of the supporters through the streets of Osu.

He urged delegates to remain focused in the choice they will make in the upcoming primary slated for November 7 as it will to a large extent determine how easy or difficult the “fight” for the seat in December 2016 will be.

Nii Armah Ashitey said that a lot work has been done in the areas of education, health, road reconstruction, social service support for small businesses and scholarships for hundreds of students in the constituency. An achievement he said will continue when given the nod to represent the party in the next election.

He reminded the delegates also to be mindful of the fact that elections are about numbers. Candidates that do not appeal, he said, to the broad mass of the people will lose and that will be a blow to the NDC and Klottey Korle Constituency.

Receiving the forms, the constituency Chairman and Secretary thanked him and wished him well.

Nii Armah Ashietey is being challenged by five others namely; Samuel Kweku, Linford Quarshie, Wakefield Akuarku, Nii Cileman and Dr. Ezenator Rawlings.

The daughter of the former President is said to be facing a formidable personality in the person of the former Greater Accra Regional Minister, a born and bred Osu who understands the terrain more than his competitors, especially Dr. Ezenator Rawlings.
