New Tema Police Chief Talks Tough

The new Tema Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Paul Manly Nchorbilla Awini has taken over command from DCOP Beatrice Zakpaa Vib-Sanziri with a stern warning to criminals to keep off Tema.

He warned that he would not tolerate criminal activities in Tema and will do everything in his power to ensure the safety of the residents.

ACP Awini made the announcement at a pull out ceremony organized by the Regional Police Command to bid farewell to DCOP Vib-Sanziri and also hand over the baton of power to the newly appointed commander.

ACP Awini asserted, “I am going to adopt a strategy that will be people friendly but crime hostile and the purpose of this strategy is to ensure that, the people of Tema go about their businesses free without fear and intimidations.”

He stated that his point of focus would be to secure residential areas in collaboration with resident associations and all stakeholders to increase vigilance.

According to him, “My predecessor has achieved a lot when it comes to crime fighting and I will build on it by ensuring that crime is highly reduced in Tema.”

He reminded the people of Tema that policing is a shared responsibility hence, should team up with the police by volunteering information so as to make crime fighting easier.

He implored the different units within the police service to set aside their differences so as to win the fight against crime.

Talking on some of his plans for the region before the end of the year, ACP Awini said the police administration has suspended workers’ leave during this year’s Christmas and New Year festivities to enable police give 24-hour security and protection.
