Nana Addo commiserates with family of Asawase murder victim

Kumasi, Nov.13, GNA – Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, the three- time presidential flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Friday commiserated with the family of the late Abubakari Saddick, with a call on them not to retaliate his death saying the deceased had sacrificed for the cause of democracy.

Saddick was stabbed to death by one Muhamadu alias ‘Duna’ exactly a week today when two rival factions of the Asawase Constituency (NPP) clashed in a bloody confrontation over a locked party office of that constituency.

Nana Addo who expressed his deepest sympathy and that of the entire party membership to the family said Saddick’s death should be last in Ghana’s democracy and added the NPP has a firm conviction that the country’s democracy should be devoid of blood spilling.

He said he had travelled outside country when the unfortunate incident happened and regretted that he will also not be in the country during the ‘Ardua’, final funeral rites of the deceased scheduled for November 22, but Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, his running mate and other leading party members would be around.

The NPP flag-bearer donated a cash of GH₵2,500.00 to the family to support the funeral and exhorted them not to feel too sad about the incident which he said could be an act of God.

He was accompanied by some Party stalwarts including the third national Vice Chairman, Mr. F. F. Antoh, Mr. Kwadwo Owusu-Afriyie, alias Sir John, former National Secretary and Afisa Otiko Djaba, the National Womens’ Organiser.
