MUSIGA Grand Ball Auction Raises Ghc 85,000.00

An amount of GHC 85,000.00 was raised from the auction of Nana Kwame Ampadu’s guitar, the saxophone of Jerry Hansen of Ramblers International band fame and the first President of MUSIGA and a seprewa belonging to ace seprewa player Osei Korankye at the MUSIGA Grand Ball event. The Ball took place at the State House Banquet Hall on Friday, September 4.

Present at the event was the President, John Dramani Mahama who was the Special Guest. He was accompanied by his brother Ibrahim Mahama who bought Nana Ampadu’s guitar. Jerry Hansen’s saxophone was bought by Bola Ray’s E.I.B company, owners of Live FM , Kasapa FM and Star FM.

Other dignitaries at the event included the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon Elizabeth Ofosu-Agyare, members of Parliament and captains of industry. A winner of the Music Industry Pillar award and C.E.O of Despite Group Ltd Dr Osei Kwame Despite was also in attendance.

In addition to the fund raising, MUSIGA also honored three persons for their contribution to the development of the music industry in Ghana. The honorees are Dr Ernest Sarpong, a business magnate and C.E.O of Sarpong Ventures; Apostle Kojo Safo of Kristo Asafo fame and Dr Kwabena Duffour former governor of the Bank of Ghana and Minister of Finance under President Atta Mills.

Performers for the night included good old Showmaster of Africa Bob Pinodo, the Black Chinese J. A. Adofo and Papa Yankson as well as ace keyboardist Kojo Akwaboah who thrilled the audience with some of their classics. Other performers included Becca, Gasmilla, Celestine Donkor, Gifty Osei, Bisa K Dei and Philipa Baafi.

MUSIGA Grand Ball 2015 was a master piece of an event from the catering to the performance and support for charity by patrons.
