Murder of Nkwanta South DCE: Two more arrested

Two more suspects have been picked by the police in connection with the murder of the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Nkwanta South in the Volta Region, Peter Keyensu.

This brings to ten (10), the total number of suspects arrested since the dastardly act, which happened in front of the late DCE’s residence on Monday November 3, 2014.

The late Keyensu was shot at close range by an unknown assailant while searching for his mobile phone in his car, his Personal Assistant, Samuel Mawutor told Joy News.

His shocking death has alarmed other DCEs in the Volta region, who are now calling for increased police protection.

Director-General in charge of Public Affairs at the Police Service, DCOP David Ampah Bennin told Joy News, Wednesday that the two individuals have been invited to assist the police with the investigations. It is not yet known who they are, or where and when they were picked up.

“We are interrogating the people…and we want to assure the general public that when the culprits are arrested we will ensure that the appropriate prosecution is done,” he told co-presenter, Francisca Kakra Forson.

In a related development, personnel from the Homicide and Crime Scene Units of the Police Service have been dispatched to the Nkwanta area to collaborate assist local police.

“We attach much importance to the investigation; that’s why we have detached more personnel from Accra…so they will have a better collaboration,” DCOP Ampa Bennin said. Story by Ghana | | Jerry Tsatro Mordy | [email protected]
