Miss Tourism Ghana 2014, Naa Teidey Ofori, has in her quest to put smiles on the faces of orphans around the country donated assorted items worth thousands of Ghana cedis to the Potter’s Village Orphanage at Dodowa in the Greater Accra Region.

The items, including books, boxes of Indomie instant noodles, Cowbell products, clothing, bags of sachet water, toiletries, among others, were presented to the orphanage over the weekend.

According to Ms Ofori, the donation was her part of the numerous projects she had lined up under her Nate Foundation to make impact on society and children in Ghana.

‘There are some orphanages that are very well known and it appears everyone wants to go to those ones. Dodowa Orphanage was one of the places that I never imagined existed so I came here earlier to see the place and I realised that the donation would expose the orphanage to other donors,’ she told BEATWAVES.

She added that she would promote Ghana as a top tourist destination for people travelling to Africa so they could experience for themselves all the delights her country has to offer.

‘I also received sponsorship from Indomie, Kingdom Books and Stationary, Promasidor Ghana limited-producers of cowbell products in Ghana- and Nero Mineral Water, among others, to make this donation a success,’ she said.

Founder and President of Potter’s Village orphanage, Jane Irina Adu, expressed her gratitude to the tourism ambassador for Ghana and pleaded with corporate bodies to emulate the kind gesture Ms Ofori had exhibited.

‘We want organisations and individuals to come to our aid and help us put up a more comfortable and permanent home for the vulnerable,’ Mrs Adu said.

Potter’s Village orphanage was founded in 2000 with six children and three women. Currently, the orphanage is the home to over 125 children.
