Minority Leader Must Apologise To Ghanaians—Inside Ghana Insists

A group calling itself Inside -Ghana, has challenged the Minority Leader of Parliament, Hon. Lawrence Osei Kyei- Mensah -Bonsu, to vividly point out the names of government appointees he claimed are siphoning state funds to build hotels and filling stations in the country.

According to the group, he should substantiate his wild allegations or render an unqualified apology to the Executive, Legislature and the good people of Ghana if he claims he has no evidence.

“We would recall that on the 9th March, during a press briefing by the Minority caucus on their version of state of nation, the Hon. Minority leader, Lawrence OseiKyei- Mensah-Bonsu made some wild allegation against some appointees of the John Manama administration seemingly engrossed in the acts of corruption”

The Convener of Inside Ghana, Mr. Spencer Quaye, made the disclosure at a news conference in Accra.

“As a pressure group interested in the fight against corruption, Inside Ghana last week challenged the MP to make public the names of these appointees involved in this desirable crime for investigation but after giving him a 7 day ultimatum, he failed to live up to the billing. And as promised, we have petitioned the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament for him to be compelled to back his wild claims with evidence or be hurled before the privileges committee for appropriate sanctions” he explained

According to Convener, the fight against corruption is not a one-man agenda and therefore requires a collective effort of all and sundry to help defeat the insurmountable canker in order to pave way for development.

“It is therefore disingenuous for the honorable minority leader to publicly put out such wild allegations without any attempt to substantiate. This rancid political theatrics must no longer have space within our sociopolitical ecosystem”.

He further called on anti-graft institutions, civil society organizations, the Clergy, media practitioners and Ghanaians at large to support their call for the creation of a healthy political environment which will enhance national development.
