MD In Court For Forgery


The Managing Director (MD) of Max Professionals Company Rabih Maghribi has been arraigned in an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly supplying fake brake fluid to unsuspecting customers under the pretext that they were genuine products from NISWA Company in the United Kingdom (UK).

The suspect was put in a court presided over by M.E. Essandoh and charged with forgery of trademark after police were led to Gbawe to retrieve cartons of the said fake braid fluid which was said to have been manufactured by a Nigerian.

Maghribi pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of GH¢60,000 with two sureties while the case has been adjourned to November 25 2015.

ACP Atibilla the prosecuting officer who narrated the facts of the case stated that the complainant is the MD of Evergreen Chemicals Company Limited which is into the importation of Polyguard Super A1 brake fluid manufactured by NISWA, a company based in the UK.

He said the accused person is the boss of Max Professionals which deals in spare parts at Abbosey Okai   and said Evergreen is the sole agent of the said brake fluid in the country with its headquarters in Kumasi.

According to him about a year ago, the complainant had information from their customers that someone was supplying fake Super A1 brake fluid on the market and she conducted her own investigations and realised that the suspect was the supplier of the said brake fluid which had their trademark on it.

The prosecutor related that on August 26, 2015, the complainant reported the matter to the police leading to the arrest of the suspect and on August 29, 2015 the suspect led the police to their warehouse at Gbawe and Darkuman junction where the fake products were manufactured.

He said the accused person upon interrogation claimed ownership of the fake products and said they were supplied by a Nigerian whose name he failed to give to the police.

He said the suspect was arraigned after police concluded investigations.
