MCE Blows IGF On Funerals Donation And Merry Making Events

Assembly Members of Ejura Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti region have raised a furious concerns about the Municipal Chief Executive, Alhaji Mohammed Bawah Braimah decision to spend about GH60, 998. 46 Internal Generated Fund(IGF) for funerals donation and other social programmes in the municipality within six(6) months of his appointment.

They are also incriminating the municipal director of feeder roads, Mr. Tricky for abetting the MCE to spend over GHC42, 000. 00 on a ghost project.

The Honourable Members are accusing the MCE of causing financial lost to the municipality.

According to the Assembly’s BUDGET ESTIMATES FOR 2014, a yearly projection of GH10,000.00 were estimated for programmes Donation but the MCE has doubled the expenditure to about 400% from January to June and still asking for more to accommodate that expenses for the rest of the year.

In defence of the spending, the document justifies ” 400% is way above the half year 50% projection due to the regular invitation of the MCE for social and funeral programmes.”

The Assembly members wondered why a government would throw up monies at marry making events whiles still battling with an indefinite labour unrest and acute energy crises.

However, some of the members believed the MCE is aggrandizing the expenditure for political expediency.

An Assembly member who handed over this documents and begs anonymity said ” this spending you are seeing here is just a tip of the iceberg, there are more shoddy deals that we don’t talk about.”

“The money spent is unprecedented and very unmerited and soon we shall shoot him down”. Another Member promised.

The Assembly Members are therefore calling for immediate audit from the Auditor General Department and act on their findings accordingly.
