Marshalls win protest; qualify for quarters in UPAC Basketball competition

Marshall University College have won a protest accusing them of fielding an unqualified player in the ongoing 2015 UPAC Basketball Championship.

They have therefore qualified for the National Grand finals of the competition which will be held from April 23 to April 25 at the University of Ghana.

The University of Ghana and Wisconsin University filed a joint protest against the Marshalls, accusing them of fielding an unqualified player during the Accra Zone three (3) competition.

But the Marshalls submitted documents to prove the student in question was indeed student of the Marshalls University.

The organisers had no choice but to confirm the qualification of the Marshalls.

Meanwhile, due to internal challenges, University of Development Studies (UDS) from Tamale will not be able to participate in the finals.

“The second place teams from the Accra Zones will compete for the available slot on Sunday April 19 at the University of Ghana,” said Yaw Sakyi, President of Rite Multi Media, organizers of the competition.

The second place institutions which will have a second opportunity to qualify for the National Grand Finals include: University of Ghana, Zenith University College and Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).
