Mahama has failed northerners – Nitiwul

Member of Parliament for Bimbilla, Dominic Nitiwul has accused President John Mahama of neglecting the north and dashing the hopes of Northerners.

He indicated that as someone coming from Gonja in the three northern regions, many expected him to bring development to the area but that has not happened.

“Mahama is from the north but he has failed us,” the Bimbilla MP told teeming protesters who took over the Upper East regional capital Bolgatanga to demonstrate what they claimed to be poor governance under the Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The protesters, mainly New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters, who were led by the party’s running mate for the 2016 elections, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia said the hardship in the region is unbearable under the NDC government.

Dominic Nitiwul noted that the hardship is not limited to the northern regions but is a nationwide challenge that is eliciting a national call for change everywhere he goes.

Everywhere in the country people are suffering, but this is not the kind of government we voted for, he emphasised.

He is therefore urging Ghanaians to massively vote out all NDC MPs and President Mahama in the 2016 elections to realise the change they are yearning for, adding that the change must start from the Upper East.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia reiterated Mr. Nitiwul’s point, stressing that Ghanaians are tired of ‘wahala’ (difficulties) being meted out by the government.

He called on the electorate to envisage hope in Nana Akufo-Addo as the one to bring the needed change in their lives.

Notable NPP bigwigs who joined the demonstration included NPP National Organiser John Boadu, Antwi Bosiako (Chairman Wontumi) and National Youth Organiser Sammy Awuku.

Joy News’ regional correspondent Albert Sore who covered the demonstration said some market women and residents joined the thousands of protesters.
