Mahama Changes Ministers

Mahama Ayariga – Environment, Alex Segbefia – Health and Ebenezer Terlabi – Dropped

Some Ministers in the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) woke up early Saturday morning to the shocking news of yet another major reshuffle to hit the government, with the surprise nomination of the headmaster of Tepa Senior High School, Peter Anarfi-Mensah, as Ashanti Regional Minister.

His nomination follows the removal of Samuel Sarpong and his Deputy, Joseph Yammin from their positions after a protracted internal wrangling which was seen to be affecting the NDC.

Mr Anarfi-Mensah, a strong NDC member, was linked to the Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive position before Kojo Bonsu snatched it.

President John Mahama also sacked Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi as Deputy Minister of Lands, Forestry and Natural Resources, replacing him with the Member of Parliament for Juaboso, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh.

Terlabi, incumbent MP for Lower Manya Krobo, recently dumped his wife over an alleged cocaine scandal in which his youth organiser, David Tettey, was mentioned. The matter is currently in court.

A statement signed by newly-appointed Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, also announced the President’s nomination of Deputy Minister for Defence, Alex Segbefia as Minister for Health, taking over from Dr Kwaku Agyeman-Mensah.

Until becoming an MP, Akandoh was the Western Regional Youth Organiser of the NDC.

Ayariga, who is the MP for Bawku Central, has been sent to the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, taking over from Kwasi Oppong-Fosu, who has been reduced in rank and moved to the Presidency as
