Let’s Close Our Ranks For 2016-Dr. Bawumiah

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumiah, 2012 Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Friday entreated party faithful to close their ranks and forge ahead in unity for victory in 2016.

He indicated that internal wranglings and acrimony would not help the party in its quest to wrest power from the National Democratic Congress.

“Our fight should be wining the 2016 general elections, particularly at the polling stations and being declared the winner by the Electoral Commission as well”.

Dr. Bawumiah in the company of the National Chairman, Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, Mr. Owusu Afriyie, General Secretary, Otiko Jiba, National Women’s Organiser of the Party were in Takoradi to express gratitude to party supporters.

He said the party must remain resolute and united.

The Vice Presidential candidates said: “Thou shall not speak ill of a fellow NPP member” which he intimated, was key to sustaining the party and ensuring victory to continue with its numerous social intervention programmes to salvage the ordinary Ghanaian.

He said the over 5 million votes, regardless of the vote discrepancies in both the Parliamentary and Presidential elections, were due to the hard work and dedication of constituency executives adding, “Nana really appreciates your good works”.

On the 2012 election petition verdict, Dr. Bawumiah said despite their political lost, the party had won a “Moral Victory” which all members must be proud off.

Mr. Obetsebi-Lamptey, said it was time to restore hope to the many hopeless, frustrated and angry Ghanaians, particularly the youth, who are mostly unemployed due to the mismanagement of the economy by the ruling party.

Ms. Otiko Jiba, National Women’s Organiser said the battle for power was still the Lord’s, adding that, “Ghanaians are counting on us to bring progress and development”.

She added that the election petition had interrogated the legal and electoral system as well as enhancing democracy.

Mr. Owusu Afriyie, the General Secretary of the party called on party supporters to take a sober reflection on the outcome of the 2012 elections , stop the blame game and work the extra mile for a resounding victory in 2016.
