Kwesi Nyantakyi: Avram Grant Is a Motivator

Kwesi Nyantakyi believes the Petah Tikva-born coach can manage the egos of the Ghanaian team since he has seen it all before at Chelsea and other clubs.

Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi has described ex-Chelsea boss Avram Grant as a motivator hence their bid to name him the next Black Stars coach.

According to the west African country’s FA president, the Israeli has the technical brain, abilities and requisite skills to handle top-notch players and that come as added advantage to Ghana.

He said the intrinsic form of motivation is key in modern day football and that informed their decision to settle on the ex-Portsmouth coach.

“He had done it with Chelsea where he handled top-notch players in the dressing room and got the best out of them. So why not Ghana,” the Caf executive committee member told Accra-based TV3.

Although the 59-year-old has handled just one national side (Israel) throughout his career, Nyantakyi, who has overseen three World Cup campaigns in his tenure, stated he has no doubt Grant is the suitable choice.

“During the interview, he had demonstrated to the panel, he got all the capability and skills to massage egos of players,” the owner of Wa All Stars said. “Now we are left with the mode of payment but we are working very hard to finish everything so that he can commence work.”
