K-Poly Student Gunned Down

Thomas Agyapong, a first-year student of the Kumasi Polytechnic, Thomas Agyapong, 23, has been killed by robbers at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) junction near Ayigya, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.

The incident, according to police account, occurred at about 2am on Tuesday when the deceased was in his room in the company of three of his mates preparing for lectures.

They were reported to have heard neighbours screaming and calling for help after being held hostage by the suspected night marauders in a robbery attack in the same compound.

While the students were trying to seek alternative ways of fleeing from the robbers, one of them (robbers) tried breaking into the room of the deceased but he resisted and was shot in the neck.

The bandits immediately fled the neighbourhood on realising that the incident had attracted the attention of more people within the vicinity.

With the help of co-tenants, Thomas Agyapong was rushed to the KNUST Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

A complaint has officially been lodged with the KNUST police, who confirmed the incident to ultimate1069.com but disclosed that the police administration is currently investigating the matter to arrest the perpetrators of the incident.

The body has since been deposited at the KNUST Hospital for autopsy.
