Joy FM’s Ghana Connect: Power is sweet, why should our leaders resign?

Our collective challenges as a people are well known: from a persisting power crisis to a worsening economic situation.

In the last two years those who have the responsibility to fix these two main problems have not changed: from the president, to the ministers and to the chief executives. While these individuals at the helm have remained in office, the problems have worsened.

In Madagascar this year the entire government resigned because of persisting blackouts. And that was before the President sacked the Energy Minister.

Is it true that as a people we generally appear to be disinterested in holding ourselves and others to account?

Is it time to question this culture where we simply don’t know how to resign and also don’t know how to sack and so we simply perpetuate incompetence?
