I’m Sick And Tired Of Dumsor – Doe Tetteh

Christie Doe Tetteh
Founder of the Solid Rock Chapel International, Reverend Christie Doe Tetteh, has said she is ‘sick and tired’ of the erratic power situation [dumsor] in the country.

‘I’m sick and tired of this,’ she told Gifty Anti on Joy FM’s ‘Super Morning Show’ programme Friday.

She said the power outages are frustrating the work of God in the church.

‘You are in the pulpit; you are preaching, suddenly power goes off.

And you begin to try to defend your position as a pastor, but we have to face realities,’ she said.

Asked if she thought prayers could make a difference, Rev Doe Tetteh retorted: ‘This is beyond prayers.’

‘People are negligent because they tell you this light will come on at this particular time, and you wait forever. You never get it. You think you have light, you go to church and there is no light. Then you have to call for a plant and you pay so much money for the plant you are going to use for just a few hours,’ she bemoaned.

Ghana is currently shedding between 400 and 700 megawatts of power during off-peak and peak times, respectively.

The situation has led to job cuts, high expenditure, among others. The situation has compelled some celebrities, including actress Yvonne Nelson, to start speaking out. They are holding a vigil to protest against the dumsor, which has persisted for the past three years.

The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) also issued a statement yesterday complaining about the debilitating effect that the crisis is having on businesses.

It said the dip in confidence in doing business in Ghana ‘reflects the worsening energy situation, particularly where timelines for improving or solving the current power supply, especially to industry, have not materialised and timelines continue to be extended.’

‘Information on the energy situation as put out by Government has been unclear. AGI is urging Government to make its plans for resolving the energy crisis clear and precise to enable industries plan,’ the association added.
