I Will Change The Face Of Wa -MCE

THE WA Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Issahaku Nuhu Putiaha says he will change the face of Wa municipality and make it a model in the country.

According to him, the Municipality was one of the cleanest in the country and assured that he would maintain the status quo with the co-operation of stakeholders.

Putiaha pointed out that every last Saturday of every month would be set aside for general cleaning of surrounding households in the municipality, since ‘The health of the people is the wealth of the people’.

The MCE said the situation where so much is spent on sanitation would be reduced to the barest minimum and that the filthy environment affects the wellbeing of the people and increase the health bills of the people in the municipality.

He told The Chronicle in an interview that the main traffic light in the town has been replaced with an ultra-modern one to reduce accidents and in a bid to address the usual congestion and confusion commuters are grappled with at the Central Business District (CBD) of the town.

Patiaha stated that the municipality has been peaceful and said apart from minor thieving and burglaries; the incidence of armed robbery, land and chieftaincy disputes have declined significantly.

The Municipal Chief Executive said that seven Nigerians, who were suspected to have been engaged in prostitution in some hotels in the town, were rounded up by the Ghana Immigration Service for repatriation to Nigeria.
