Help Arrest My Son’s Killers Sadiqs Father Tells Nana

ABUBAKAR SADIQ, 62, whose son, Sadiq Abubakar aka ‘Ogundi’, 34, was gruesomely murdered at Asawase in Kumasi, says his prime wish is for the killers of his son to be arrested to face the law.

He has consequently appealed to Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, to intervene so that the killers of his son would not go scot-free.

The heartbroken father was of the strong conviction that Nana Akufo-Addo’s huge influence could help lead to the arrest of the murderers of Sadiq, who was stabbed to death due to internal wrangling in the NPP at Asawase.

‘I am appealing to Nana Akufo-Addo to personally intervene so that the law enforcement agents would quicken investigations so that the fiendish people who killed my son unjustifiably would be apprehended soon.

‘Those who killed my son had no right to commit such a heinous crime and it is my prayer that they would be arrested and prosecuted accordingly so that my heart would be at peace,’ Abubakar stated amid sobs.

He spoke exclusively to DAILY GUIDE when Nana Akufo-Addo and other top NPP members visited his family house in Kumasi on Friday to offer their condolences to the bereaved family over the loss of Sadiq.

Abubakar said the spirit of his son would rest peacefully in his grave if the killers are arrested to dance to the tune of the laws of the land, stressing that everything must be done so as to ensure that Sadiq’s murderers are brought to book.

According to him, he heard about his son’s unfortunate demise whilst he was in town working, adding that the family, who are staunch Muslims, had since given the matter to Allah, ‘but the killers must be arrested and punished’.

NPP Unity
Abubakar expressed sadness over the seeming cracks and disaffection in the NPP which led to the death of his son, charging Nana Akufo-Addo, who is the leader of the party, to again intervene to help bring lasting peace in the party.

According to him, the death of his son should be the last in the NPP, noting that Sadiq had sacrificed his life for his dear political party ‘so the violent attacks in the NPP should be a thing of the past.’

He pointed out that the infighting that had hit the NPP for some time now was causing great worry to all loyal party members, including him, insisting that it was high time people who are fighting in the NPP buried the hatchet.

Abubakar lamented that the seeming cracks in the party was making the NPP not attractive enough to woo other people to join the party ahead of the 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections.

He maintained that Nana Akufo-Addo, who commands a lot of respect and authority in the NPP, is capable of ensuring that there is peace and unity in the party and tasked the NPP leader to help restore total peace to the party.

Abubakar stated that Ghanaians, who have been suffering due to the NDC government’s poor performance, would not forgive the NPP if the party fails to unite and win the 2016 polls.
