Immediate past Assembly member for Asiakwa Twafo electoral area in the East Akyem municipality, Frank Owusu Aboagye has called on government to see to the welfare of members due to the nature of their work. According to him, assembly members needs to be payed monthly in order to support them in the course of their work.

He made this statement in an interview with the reporter at Asiakwa.

“Assembly members are always invited to ceremonies within their communities whiles problems like street bulbs and others are also a burden on us” he stated.

Mr. Aboagye retriated the work of the assembly member is even more costly than that of member of parliament since they are closer to the people in the various communities.

He however, expressed worry at the way the municipal assembly dissolved the old members as they were just given letters to inform them of their term of office.

He therefore challenged the assembly to pay past members of their ex-gratia.

“I have not received my ex-gratia yet and its unfortunate the assembly has not told us anything about that” he added.
