Flavour, Tiwa Savage Others Headline Foundation J.A.A Charity/Fund Raising Concert

The whole essence of corporate social responsibility (CSR) is often defeated when misconstrued by individuals and corporate entities who should be more involved with it. In other climes multi nationals and celebrities deem it a rare privilege to give back to society by empowering individuals or donating largely to projects that will further better the cause of humanity.

However in Nigeria the trend is yet to catch on as anticipated, as only a few corporate entities and individual celebrities understand this concept and are participating fully.

Earlier this month in Lome Togo, some of Nigeria’s finest artistes including Flavour, Tiwa Savage, Bracket and Chidima joined forces with some other indigenous Togolese artistes to stage a charity concert with the aim of raising funds to support the initiatives ofFoundation JacquelineAmivi Aka (J.A.A)

The massive concert held at Stade de kegue in Lome and was very well attended by music enthusiasts. The Nigerian artistes who have become the toast of the African continent in recent times, did not fail to give very good accounts of themselves on stage.

The Foundation Jacqueline Amivi Aka (J.A.A) was established to cater to various needs of certain cadres of people in the Togolese society, some of which are; to support women’s income generative activities allowing them to improve their social condition, to strengthen women’s autonomy by developing their entrepreneurship and also to promote women’s rights. It helps guarantee access to healthcare for mothers and children, promotes children rights, and ensures education for girls and deprived children.

The Foundation Jacqueline Amivi AKA also encourages excellence amongst the youth and raises young people to appreciate effort and charge them to be responsible while strengthening their civic sense. Besides these the foundation provides training to people regarding production and management techniques of their income generative activities, supports the initiatives of environmental protection, educates people on dangers of STI/ STD/AIDS and promotes family values.

Although Flavour has in the very recent past been linked with some charitable initiatives, it is hoped that all the artistes that participated in the charity/fund raising concert will imbibe the culture of giving back to society by embarking on more charitable initiatives of their own.
