Father of Abandoned Kids Grabbed

The Sowutuom police have apprehended the man who allegedly abandoned his two children and absconded at Nyamekye near Abeka Lapaz in Accra.

Kwodwo Boateng, 31, reported himself to the police upon hearing the news that he was being wanted.

Superintendent Susana Adjei, Sowutuom district police commander, said the man had been charged for exposing the children to danger.

According to her, Kwodwo told the police that the mother of the children              (his wife), who was living with the children at Ejisu Juaben in the Ashanti Region, left them (children) in his care three weeks ago and had since not been heard of.

Kwodwo said since the children – aged between three years and ten months respectively – were brought to him, he had not been able to go to work.

Superintendent Susana Adjei asserted that Kwodwo said not knowing what to do, he deliberately asked the trader, identified as Akua Kyerewaa, who comes from his hometown in Ejusu, to take care of the children while he went to buy food for them.

“Akua Kyerewaa did not even know that she comes from the same village with the suspect,” the police officer maintained.

Superintendent Adjei said the sister of Kwodwo had since taken custody of one of the children while the other one is still with Akua Kyerewaa.
