Father Abandons Kids At Sowutuom

A middle-aged man has allegedly abandoned his two children at Sowutuom, a suburb of Accra, and bolted.

The children, aged three years and ten months respectively, according to information received, were left in the care of a trader at Nyamekye near Abeka Lapaz by the said man under the pretext of going to buy them food but never returned.

The incident, according to police reports, occurred on Saturday, October 31, 2015.

The Sowutuom police have launched a search for the man.

ASP Effia Tengey, Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer, told DAILY GUIDE that the older child is the boy of about three years while the girl is about ten months who is yet to walk.

Both children cannot even talk.
She said information received from the trader (name withheld) indicated that she was in her shop at Nyamekye around 8am last Saturday when the man approached her and begged her to keep the children while he crossed the road to go buy food for them.

It is however, unclear the motive behind the man abandoning the children.

Not knowing what to do, the trader took the children to the Sowutuom police to report the matter.

The children are now with the police while efforts are being made to locate the parents.
