Efya Headlines Girl Talk Concert 2015

Afro-pop singer Efya will headline this year’s edition of the annual musical concert dubbed ‘Girl Talk Concert’ slated for December 18 at the National Theatre in Accra.

Although the organisers of the event, Palm Media, have officially not announced Efya as the headline act, reports available to BEATWAVES indicate that a press briefing will be held on November 18 to officially announce the headline act as well as all the artistes billed to perform at the event.

It would be recalled that the past editions of the concert had always been headlined by Becca.

The decision by the organisers to use Efya as the headline act for this year’s event has been welcomed by a large number of Ghanaians and music fans.

A section of music fans are speculating that the separation between Becca, whose contract with Kiki ended last year, may have been the reason for Efya’s emergence as the new face of the show.

Efya got her first exposure to fame when she participated in the maiden edition of the Stars of the Future talent show.

Between 2008 and 2011, Efya was part of the group ‘Irene and Jane’. They released one album titled ‘Unveiled’ before going their separate ways. After the break-up, the then Jane changed her name to Ms Jane and then later to Efya .

Efya got signed to One Nation Entertainment in 2011. Her first single after she left the group was ‘Little Things’. Since then, she has released over a dozen other singles.

Efya is a delight to watch on stage and in March 2013, she performed at the Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards in Nigeria.

She has performed at various shows both in Ghana and outside, including the ‘Hope City Concert’ that had Chris brown as headline artiste. She has in recent months headlined a number of shows organised by her label.

For four consecutive years between 2009 and 2013, she won the Best Female Vocalist of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards.

She is a product of Yaa Asantewaa Secondary School and University Of Ghana, Legon, where she graduated with a degree in Theatre Arts and Music.
