Effutu Assembly confirms MCE

Winneba (C/R), Jan. 1, GNA – The Effutu Municipal Assembly on Tuesday, December 29 confirmed the President’s nominee, Mr Francis Tagoe as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area.

All the twenty-five of the 26 Assembly members present, voted for Mr Tagoe in an election conducted by the Electoral Commission Directorate in Municipality, led by Ms Emilia Akortia, the Municipal director.

The election, which took place at a special meeting of the Assembly, was presided by Mr Sylvester Silver and supervised by Dr Aquinas Tawiah Quansah, Central Regional Minister.

He is also the acting Chief Executive for the area following the death of the substantive MCE, Nii Ephraim last year.

Mr Alexandra Owore, Winneba District Court Magistrate, swore Mr Tagoe into Office and also led him to take the oath of allegiance and office.

Dr Quansah, Mr Francis Owusu Ansah, Municipal Coordinating Director and Mr Alex Afenyo Markin, MP for the Area had earlier appealed to the Assembly Members to place the development of the area above their personal gains and confirm the MCE.

Mr Tagoe in his acceptance speech expressed his profound gratitude to the Assembly member for finally confirming him and thanked President John Mahama for giving him the opportunity to serve the country.

The Assembly failed to confirm Mr Tagoe on December 15, 2015 and another meeting scheduled to take place on December 20 could not take place due to what the authorities described as ‘technicalities’.

Some DCEs from nearby districts, friends and family members of the MCE attended the event.
