ECG Vendor Robbed At Gunpoint

A 29-year-old vendor of Electricity Company of Ghana’s (ECG) prepaid credit at Sekondi was robbed of her day’s sales at gunpoint by unknown assailants last Saturday.

The victim, Veronica Donkor, a nursing mother, has since lodged a complaint with the Sekondi Police who have begun investigations into the incident.

No arrest has so far been made.
The traumatised ECG prepaid vendor told journalists in an interview that she operates a ECG credit vending joint at Bakaekyir, a suburb of Sekondi.

According to her, after close of sales on Saturday, she, together with another male colleague were walking towards a bus stop which was about 50 metres away from her joint to board a vehicle.

She said three men suddenly emerged from a stationary taxi car with registration number CR 185 X, pulled a gun at them and snatched a bag in her hand containing the day’s sales of GH¢ 1,500.

She indicated that the assailants pushed her together with her five months old baby whom she carried at her back into a ditch and sped off with the booty.

She added that the robbers also made away with some pampers meant for the baby.

The victim indicated that in the process, she sustained some injuries together with the baby but had since gone to the hospital to seek for attention.

Veronica Donkor is currently assisting the police in investigations.
