Doctor Praises Government Over “New Found” Ebola Seriousness

Doctors in the country seem excited at the government’s fresh commitment towards Ebola prevention and readiness.

Many lamented about what seemed to be the half-hearted lip service approach to dealing with the menace which has infected more than 13,000 and killed over 5,000.

Many health experts were unhappy with the preventive measures claimed to be in place at the country’s borders whiles many also complained about non-existent ebola centres in the country. Medical practitioners had threatened to run away from suspected Ebola cases due to non-availability of Personal Protective Equipment.

Medical Director of Techiman based Holy Family Hospital, Dr. Ernest Ameyaw has however commended government’s new found seriousness on Ebola.

“At first, they were just paying lip service to the disease but I am now happy with what I am seeing”, he told

He says government has brought in some significant number of PPEs whiles measures are being taken to ensure border security against Ebola and other diseases that can be imported. He is now convinced of a workable plan being implemented by the government.

He tells though supplies for the fight against a menace like Ebola may never be enough, government is now showing important signs that it is serious about Ebola prevention and control.
