Demo Rocks Bolga

All is set for a demonstration in the Upper East Regional capital, Bolgatanga, to draw government’s attention to the hardships and pain the people are going through in the region in particular and the country as a whole.

The demonstration, being spearheaded by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is dubbed, ‘We are feeling the pain.’ It is expected to involve members of the party, other political parties as well as all suffering Ghanaians in the Upper East Region and elsewhere.

Some top party functionaries who are supposed to partake in the protest march include the National NASARA Coordinator, Kamal-Din Abdallah; National Organizer John Buadu; National Youth Organizer Samuel Awuku and the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako alias Chairman Wontumi.

Organizers say the National Chairman, Paul Afoko; the party’s flag bearer, Nana Akufo-Addo and his running mate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, are expected to lead the demonstration which will start from the Ramsey Park.

The demonstrators, besides the hardships, will be complaining about the inability of the National Health Insurance Scheme to absorb all the charges when card-bearing members go to health

facilities in the Upper East Region. They are also expected to complain about the scraping of the allowances of teacher and nursing trainees.

The Upper East Youth Organizer of the NPP, Ibrahim Bashiru, said looking at the level of organisation and the publicity so far, the demonstration is expected to attract over 5,000 people.
