Curfew hours on Alavanyo and Nkonya Townships reviewed

Accra, March 4, GNA – Government has reviewed the curfew hours on Alavanyo and Nkonya Townships according to a statement released on Friday by the Interior Minister.

Mr Prosper Bani, the Minister of the Interior, said in the statement that the curfew period would now be between 2100 hours and 0600 hours effective Friday March 4, 2016.

The decision was on the advice of the Volta Regional Security Council.

According to the statement, Government expresses its appreciation to the Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth and people of the area for their efforts in ensuring peace in the area and urged them to use the established mechanisms for the resolution of all their conflicts and disputes.

‘Government will like to reiterate that, there is a ban on all persons in the two towns and their environs from carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons and any individual found with arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted,’ the statement added.
