CRI Credit Union Goes Mobile Banking

Management of Crop Research Institute Cooperative Credit Union Limited has announced the introduction of mobile banking to its operations.

Announcing this at this year’s Annual General Meeting at the union’s premises at Fumesua near Kumasi,  Board Chairman of the Union, Mr. Michael Kofi Adu said the move is to strengthen the membership base and capital adequacy of the union.

The theme for this year’s AGM was – “People helping people”.  Mr. Kofi Adu attributed the decline in the union’s membership to the current embargo on employment which makes it difficult to replace dead and retired employees of the institute.  He stressed the need to pull resources for the mutual benefit of members which, he said, is paramount in challenging economic times.

The Union manager, Mr. Robert Adu Gyemfi said the credit union through hard work was able to make significant improvement during 2015.  He announced that the union realized a net surplus of GHc142, 514.42 (62% increase) as against GHc87, 898.94 in 2014.

He further stated that the union also recorded promotion from the previous year from grade C to B. Mr. Adu Gyemfi admonished members, shareholders and the general public not to panic as their investments is protected under the Deposit Guarantee Policy of the Bank of Ghana.
