Check Out All The Photos From The Maiden SK8 (Skate) Fest 2016 In Takoradi

In line skating has over the past years generated a lot of interest and following in Ghana. On March 7,2016, Power Haus Promotions an event house based in Takoradi, organized the first ever street skating and Dancing competition in Takoradi dubbed SK8Fest2016 (Skate fest). The event saw over 15 skating groups and Dancing groups battle it out in the middle of the UBA-Stanbic Bank street (Market Circle).

The maiden edition of SK8 Fest attracted a crowd of over 1,000. The skills displayed by the Skaters and Dancers were incredible that patrons were left asking for more. Infused with musical performances from Qweci(Ded Buddy), Ras Ebo, Sayvee and a special DJ performance by DJ Cue, SK8 Fest 2016 according to patrons was the most exciting street event ever.

The skaters competed fiercely in areas like freestyle skating, Formation skating, Long Jump, High Jump and Ramp Jump which saw Subway Skaters emerge as the winners of the maiden edition of SK8 Fest with a prize of GH2000.

Present at the event was the deputy regional minister of the Western Region, Hon. Alfred Ekow Gyan who used the opportunity to speak to the public about the need for a peaceful election and the importance of education.

According to Head of Events at Power Haus Promotions; Mr Agyekum Gyimah Akwasi, SK8 Fest is an annual event and it will be going National soon. He further stated that SK8 Fest has come to stay and next year’s edition will have skaters from all over Ghana trooping into the Western Region to take part in Ghana’s official street skating festival.
